Postdoctoral Fellowship Opportunity

Dr. Sherry Stewart’s MAAC lab is looking for a Postdoctoral fellow (PDF) to collaborate with partner researchers and organizations in the conduct of the UniVenture project — a targeted wellness program to address heavy drinking, other substance misuse, and student mental health on 5 Canadian campuses. The multi-site project is being led by Dr. Sherry Stewart (Project Director [PD]). The PDF will report directly to the PD and work with UniVenture Project university partners and students to ensure standardized organization and delivery of the project across all sites. There is also an opportunity to work closely with one of the partners, Injury Free Nova Scotia(IFNS), to advance a UniVenture sub-project examining the targeted wellness program’s relation to reducing risk taking and injury in undergrads.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate the multi-site UniVenture project from the Halifax site
  • Lead & manage research collaboration between the MAAC Lab & IFNS
  • Oversee timelines & assist in completion of implementation goals at each UniVenture site
  • Assist in supervision of RAs & students
  • Prepare, coordinate, & support primary ethical approval
  • Prepare manuscripts for publication
  • Support development and standardization of data collection protocols and tools
  • Attend regular UniVenture, MAAC Lab, and IFNS meetings
  • Successfully apply for funding through Mitacs.

 

Qualifications

  • Recent PhD in a field within Health or Social Sciences required – Clinical Psych. PhD is an asset
  • Preference will be given to candidates who have experience in peer reviewed publication
  • Experience working in a research environment managing multi-site projects
  • Excellent leadership and interpersonal skills, the ability to work as part of a team
  • Excellent organizational and communication (written & oral) skills – French & English is an asset.
